I attended PS 40 in the 1950s; I don't remember the gargoyles, which may be a good thing. They are rather terrifying. Interesting pictures, interesting subject, but I do wonder why they were used as ornaments on a school that was intended to house small children (K-6).

About Gargoyles of NY

Follow me on my journey combing the streets of New York City, discovering and photographing its Gargoyles, Grotesques and Chimeras. These often times whimsical carved-stone, metal or wood masterpieces are usually high above the eye's view, too far to be appreciated and hardly ever noticed.
