After following your blog for some time now something came to my mind. One big difference between the "real gothic" gargoyles and the NY models is, that the first ones are much more explicit - some parts of them I would not post on my blog (hmm, okay, just because I then would have to deal with all the comments, ;-)). So the NY gargoyles are much more puritanic to my eye. Besides being more "cubistic", less "organic".

Hm, not so sure if this of any interest for anyone besides of me, ;-)

About Gargoyles of NY

Follow me on my journey combing the streets of New York City, discovering and photographing its Gargoyles, Grotesques and Chimeras. These often times whimsical carved-stone, metal or wood masterpieces are usually high above the eye's view, too far to be appreciated and hardly ever noticed.
