In the city, this is the mother lode of Gargoyles, Chimeras and Grotesques! I was overwhelmed with trying to photograph every one of them. I'm sure I'd missed a good number of them. Hopefully I'd photographed enough to prompt you to go see them in person. They are spectacular! Make sure to bring your binoculars or even better if you can fly. They were shot over a two-day period because it started raining the first time just as I'd arrived at the church.

These two little cuties are located on Claremont Avenue.
Location: 490 Riverside Drive between 122nd & 120th Streets (NYC). The tallest church in the United States. Completed in 1930.

A little worse for wear, these two worn stone gargoyles adorns the former entrance of abandoned Public School 109. In the center of the huge school, stands the tower with the green patina copper gargoyles. Completed in 1898.

Location: 414 East 14th Street, near 1st Avenue (NYC). Built in 1894, originally called Grace Chapel and Hospital.
